In my group project we focused on the issue of homelessness in Portland, specifically Portland State University. It all seem to go well but despite our great efforts we had to bail out on that idea due the sensibility of that topic. As a group, we than decided to take on the idea of college tuition and since we all had different situations we thought it would be best if we could all present in class and talk about the different challenges we all faced in regards to how much we pay to be enrolled in Portland State University, financial aid etc. The project went really well. Everybody did their part and we manage to finish in time for the deadline despite the minor setback. Additionally, we even made a infographic that we handed out in class that provided our classmates with important information on tuition as well as statistics that my group was talking about.
Group 1 – I thought group one was really interesting due to the fact they tackled multiple social issues such as anti LGBTQ violence, homelessness, food security, human trafficking and responsible partying.
Group 2 – My initial reaction to this group’s presentation was how eye-appealing it was visually. They had a great format that discussed the issue on bullying and it still is present in our modern age. Additionally, they also briefly mention on ways to identify bullying and how to address it.
Group 3 – I found the podcast to be really natural despite Ricky and Isiah’s remarks on it being “cringy”. The podcast covered the topic about homelessness in Portland, Oregon. I really it found it interesting on how they got the opportunity to interview two individuals who were homeless and sort of giving the audience a different perspective that many of us will never experience.
Group 4 – I found their show ” Tea Time” to be really enjoyable to watch. I think it worried well because they all had different situations kind of like my group. The group chemistry was what really made that experience even more enjoyable. This group talked about their definition on family and how that applied to them. Right off the bat, you could notice how each person’s experiences sort of formed their own definition of what family meant to them which i thought was cool.
Group 5 – This group talked about vaccinations which is something that is really relevant to what is going on currently specifically in the Pacific North West. I liked how they provided information on how vaccination works and enjoyed the clip when they went out in public to get different people’s opinion.
Group 7 – This group incorporated the game of monopoly in order to promote awareness of financial inequality. Before the game began, the participants would have to take a chance and pick out their financial position in life. I got the chance to to volunteer and experience how frustrating it was for basically the rich to get richer due the limitation I had to purchase property within the game. In closing, it was rigged.
Group 8 – This game-board game was based off Candycane Lane with the objective of reaching the endpoint the quickest as possible. The game conveyed the message of the expense of healthcare and how disadvantaged people of lower incomes are in. I really liked how simplistic this game was to the point where it can be played in schools. Great potential.
